Orange county elected officials filled the OC Pavilion at the Division’s November 8th Meeting to try to learn more about a question that continues to be asked all across the state: should local governments exercise eminent domain?

The evening's program titled “Eminent Domain: Understanding all sides of the issue” attempted to provide both sides of this current public policy debate. The Division presented a diverse panel of speakers in addition to resource kits for the audience to take home.

The Division sought to educate members on the topic and keep them engaged in the consideration of the varying viewpoints espoused by some of the state’s leading experts on the uses of eminent domain. Among these expert panelists were Curt Pringle, Mayor of the City of Anaheim, Mimi Walters, Assemblywoman to the 73rd District, Jim Madaffer, Councilmember of the City of San Diego and President of the League of California Cities, and Ronald Loveridge, Mayor of the City of Riverside.
