Orange County Cities Working Together

The State is in the Red, How Can Your City Stay in the Black? PDF Print E-mail

Local elected officials and business leaders came together on March 13, 2008 at the Wyndham Hotel in Costa Mesa to address this mounting deficit and to discuss the ways in which public and private entities can coordinate their efforts for the next fiscal year but also to ensure Orange County's economy remains viable in the future.

Invited to share their expertise on the state finances were John Chiang, State Controller, Chris McKenzie, Executive Director of the League of California Cities, Dick Ackerman, Senate Minority Leader, Jose Solorio, Assemblyman 69th District and Bob Spencer, with the Willdan Group. Lucy Dunn, President and CEO of the Orange County Business Council served as the evening’s moderator and led the discussion.

At the end of the evening, members of the audience were provided resource kits to take back to their cities and use as an information tool. Inside each packet was a best practices form contributed by the League of California Cities, "Top Five Things a City can do to Maintain Healthy revenue Streams."
