L. Allan Songstad, Jr., was first elected to the Laguna Hills City Council concurrent with the vote on incorporation in March 1991. After serving an initial 3-year term on the City Council, Allan chose not to seek reelection. However, two years later, in 1996, he successfully ran for a seat on the Council. Allan has served as the City’s Mayor in 1993, 1997, 2003, and the current year, 2008.
A 1967 graduate of the University of Southern California with a degree in Political Science, Mayor Songstad then attended Hastings Law College and served as a member of the Hastings Law Journal. He was awarded his Juris Doctorate in 1970 and was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1971.
