After being elected in November 2002, John was then appointed to serve on the League of California Cities' Revenue & Taxation Policy Committee, the Orange County Division’s Advocacy Committee and its Board of Directors. He is currently serving as Division President.
John believes that it’s important to take an active role in regional decision-making to represent the interest of local communities. His regional activities include: OC Waste Management Commission (served as Chair in 2006), Southern California Assoc. of Governments (SCAG), O.C. Council of Governments (OCCOG), Four Corners Transportation Group (currently serving as Chair of the Policy Committee); he was appointed by the City Council to represent Brea on the Wildlife Corridor Conservation Authority (WCCA) (serving as Chair in 2005) & the Hillside Open Space Education Coalition (HOSEC) (currently serving as Vice Chair).
John was appointed to the Brea City Council in November 2001 to fill a 1 year vacancy. He was subsequently elected in November 2002 to a full 4 year term, and reelected in 2006. He served as Mayor Pro Tem in 2003 and as Mayor in 2004; and is currently serving his second term as Mayor Pro Tem. |
