 With executive offices in Santa Ana, the Orange County Division is the only League division with a full time staff dedicated to serving the cities within its region. The mission of the Orange County Division, League of California Cities (the Division) is to serve and represent its members by providing education, information, legislative and advocacy services. The Division acts as an information clearing house for current issues through its website, publications, regular meetings, committee work and partnerships with other agencies. A core function of the Division is to hold periodic meetings of city officials for the purpose of promoting governmental efficiency and information sharing on current issues. The Division aims to foster and disseminate knowledge relating to municipal government and to generate greater interest and more active civic consciousness among members. As a regional division of the League of California Cities (League), it seeks to assist the latter in the formulation of policy protecting local control. It actively advocates the policies and positions of its members where there is broad consensus, and advises legislative representatives and related agencies of those positions. The Division staff includes the Executive Director, Executive Assistant, Membership Services Coordinator, Communications Coordinator and seasoned interns. The League provides additional resources to the Division, through the Regional Public Affairs Manager. This position is a direct link from the state League to the Division, and works on statewide legislation and initiatives.

Headquartered in Sacramento, California, the organization provides education and professional training services for city officials and advocates the interests of cities at the state capitol and in Washington, D.C. Vital to the League's mission, its sixteen regional divisions are an integral part of the organization's structure.
Division Mission & Goals To restore and protect local control for cities through education and advocacy to enhance the quality of life in Orange County 1- Support the right of cities to locally control the destinies of their communities, in areas such as land use. This is the most critical element to maintaining each city’s ability to provide a high quality of life. The right of local control is increasingly being disintegrated, particularly at the State level, and must be preserved. Therefore, the vigorous protection and enhancement of local control is the primary focus of the Orange County Division, League of California Cities. 2- Vigorously oppose efforts to erode funding for vital community services that keep Orange County families safe from crime, support transportation mobility and economic growth, provide housing and important after-school recreation opportunities, ensure orderly development and protect the environment. Funding for local community-based services and programs should not be sacrificed again to meet state revenue needs. 3- Support continued implementation of the 2006 infrastructure bond program and the development of new funding sources and programs to meet the infrastructure needs of our rapidly growing communities in a sustainable way for water supply, wastewater treatment, public transit, streets and roads, storm water management and other critical infrastructure. |
